This ended up being the last painting I made
for Art Around the Park. The event went on a "hiatus"
after 1998. This complex pattern proved too much for the "one
day" painting festival and I didn't finish the painting until
2000. The source for the pattern was the ancient floor mosaic at
Hadrian's Villa shown at right. The Roman Emperor Hadrian had a
great appreciation of Greek Art and he incorporated many Greek inspired
works and decorations into his villa in imaginative ways. Click here
