Vrej Baghoomian |

I have recently been informed that art dealer Vrej Baghoomian passed away on November 1, 2003. Vrej operated four galleries in New York City during his lifetime. His first gallery was at the Cable building, the second was a massive space at 555 Broadway, the third was a residential space on Bleecker Street and his fourth and last gallery was at 163 Mercer Street- the same address where his famous art dealer cousin Tony Shafrazi opened his first gallery in the early 1980's- and where Vrej once worked with him side by side - so Vrej came full circle before leaving New York in the late 1990's- amidst quite a bit of controversy- for San Jose, California. Vrej hired me to take photographs at several of these spaces and the time has
come for me to illuminate some of the art, artists, exhibitions, parties and
personalities that I had the opportunity to document for all time. September 18, 2007 Note
